About the Tariff
U.S. Import Duty Estimation
For shipments to the United States, import duties are calculated based on the CIF value, which includes:
C = Cost of goods (product price)
I = Insurance (if applicable)
F = Freight (international shipping cost)
The combined CIF value is then assessed by U.S. Customs under the applicable HS Code.
For our trike conversion kits, the commonly used code is:
HS Code: 8714.10.0050
(This applies to motorcycle parts and accessories.)
Under this classification, the United States may apply:
✔ Section 232 Duty: approximately 50% (based on the CIF value)
For example:
Product price: USD 3,000
Shipping cost: USD 2,000
CIF value = 3,000 + 2,000 = USD 5,000
If the Section 232 duty rate is approximately 50%, the estimated import duty would be:
USD 5,000 × 50% = USD 2,500
Please note:
This is only an example estimation.
Actual duty rates may vary depending on customs decisions, CBP updates, or additional fees such as MPF/processing fees.
Some regions may apply additional state-level taxes.
Import duty, taxes, and fees are not included in our pricing.
These charges are determined solely by U.S. Customs (CBP).
The final amount may differ from any estimation.
For the most accurate information, we highly recommend consulting your local customs broker or CBP.
We do not provide guaranteed duty amounts, and we do not take responsibility for any difference between the estimate and the actual fee charged by U.S. Customs.
We cannot prepay or collect U.S. import duties on your behalf.
All shipments are sent under DAP/DDU terms (Delivered at Place / Duties Unpaid).
Here is the typical U.S. duty payment process:
When your shipment arrives in the U.S., DHL/FedEx/UPS acts as the customs broker.
The carrier will review the shipment documents and submit them to U.S. Customs (CBP).
CBP calculates the exact duty based on the CIF value and HS Code.
The carrier (DHL/FedEx/UPS) will:
Call you, email you, or send an online payment link
Notify you of the amount owed
You must pay the duty directly to the carrier before final delivery.
Once the duty is paid, the shipment is released and delivered to your address.
This is the standard import process for all international shipments entering the U.S.
Actual duty amounts may differ from estimates.
Duty rates are controlled only by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
We cannot guarantee or predict the exact amount.
We cannot prepay, collect, or include duties in our invoice.
We strongly recommend confirming with your local customs broker for precise cost information.
All import duties and taxes are the buyer’s responsibility.
Import duties, taxes, and customs regulations vary widely by country, and we are unable to provide specific tax rates for each region. However, the general principles below will help you understand what to expect and how to find accurate information for your location.
Most countries calculate import duty based on:
CIF value
✔ C = Cost of goods
✔ I = Insurance (if applicable)
✔ F = Freight / shipping cost
To check the estimated import duty in your country, you can:
Search on Google:
“[Your country] import duty calculator”
or
“[Your country] customs HS code inquiry”
These carriers often provide import tax estimate tools.
Just contact customer service and tell them the HS Code:
👉 HS Code: 8714.10.0050
(Motorcycle parts & accessories)
Examples:
EU TARIC System
Canada CBSA Duty Finder
Australia Border Force Tariff
UK Trade Tariff (GOV.UK)
Singapore Customs Duty Portal
Philippines BOC Duty Calculator
Malaysia Royal Customs Duty System
Search:
“HS Code 8714.10”
Then check “duty rate” and “VAT/GST”.
In almost all countries:
Import duty is paid by the buyer.
The shipping carrier (DHL / FedEx / UPS) will contact you when the shipment arrives.
Typical payment process:
Shipment arrives at your country’s customs
DHL/FedEx contacts you (SMS / email / phone)
You pay import duty & VAT/GST
The carrier releases the shipment and delivers it to your door
We cannot prepay or collect duty on your behalf.
This is standard for DAP/DDU shipping terms.
Depending on the country, you may see:
✔ Import duty (based on HS Code 8714.10)
✔ VAT / GST / Sales tax
✔ Customs clearance fee (charged by the carrier)
✔ Handling fee (small admin fee by DHL/FedEx)
Each country uses different rates—for example:
EU VAT ~ 19–27% (varies by country)
Canada GST/HST ~ 5–15%
Australia GST ~ 10%
UK VAT ~ 20%
Southeast Asia countries: commonly 5–20% duty + VAT
Again, the exact amount depends on your country’s customs rules.
We do not add VAT/GST into our product price.
Import duty is not included in our shipping quotations.
Customers are fully responsible for import taxes in their region.
Please check your country’s regulations before ordering.
